Pastor Frans Brits

Shepherd in the Grip of Grace

Since his induction in 2017 as Eastside’s third pastor since its birth in 1985, Pastor Frans, has sought to lead with humility and a steady commitment to God’s Word. Emerging through a season of apprenticeship and eldership training under the mentorship of Pastor Joachim Rieck (1990–2023), he has worked alongside the eldership to strengthen biblical leadership, nurture mercy ministries, and support the church’s mission of discipleship and church planting. His ministry has been marked by careful shepherding and the fostering of unity amid transition, even in seasons of challenge. Under the joint leadership of the elders and the deacons, Eastside has continued to grow and serve faithfully, seeking to live out its calling to glorify God. As Eastside marks its 40th year, Pastor Frans continues to shepherd the church in grace and truth, trusting in God’s sustaining hand. Frans is married to Janet, and they have a son, Kristihan and a daughter, Jandri.

Elder Le-Ahm Lucas

Le-ahm has served as an elder at Eastside Baptist Church since 2023. He shepherds Gods people along with Pastor Frans Brits and Dr Anotida Tangawamira with the grace and truth of the Lord. Le-ahm is married to Mhai-isha and has three sons and one daughter.

Elder Anotida Tangawamira

Anotida has served as an elder of Eastside Baptist Church since 2025, married to Elisa . They have two sons, Tinotenda and Anesu. He enjoys playing chess, photography and reading.

Deacon Douglas Reissner

Douglas has served as a deacon at Eastside Baptist Church, since 16 June 2013, following his baptism on 6 November 2005. Ably assisted by Sheldon Husselmann, Mercy and Benevolence outreach is the prime focus, including guidance to young, aspiring work seekers and other practical matters identified by the Elders. Douglas is married to Brigitte, with two sons from a previous marriage.

Deacon Sheldon Husselmann

Sheldon has served as a deacon at Eastside Baptist Church since 2025. Along with Douglas Reissner he manages the EBC Mercy and Benevolence Fund among other activities aimed at assisting the EBC elders. Sheldon is married to Desiree and they have two sons and a daughter.
